Nerd Blues

Good morning, everyone! Surprise, surprise! I got a haircut over the weekend. I knew I wanted a change, and man, these bangs are definitely a change. I can’t get used to them yet, but I’m starting to be fond of them. I just want them to grow out some more because they are a too short for my liking, and I think I look like a kid. Do you like my hair cut? Should I keep it or grow it out?

This outfit has gotten mixed reviews from my family members, and I can understand why. Why would you wear a juvenile graphic tee with such a structured, professional looking skirt? My answer: why not? Fashion should be fun. Wear whatever you want. I happen to really like this outfit. I have a propensity toward plaid skirts, and the cute “Nerd” tee seemed to complete this fun, quirky outfit.

Casual Friday

Happy Friday, everyone! It’s finally time for the weekend, and another week of summer has gone by. Seriously, where has the summer gone? I can still remember writing my post about summer starting. Crazy how time flies. Before the summer ends in all its entirety, I am meeting up with my choir buddies, whom I haven’t seen since graduation. We’ll see what trouble we’ll get into (and by trouble, I mean who is going to cheat in Clue or Just Dance haha).

I’m really a sucker for details, and the bow on the side collar of this dress really makes me happy. I was drawn to the dress already because of the cute graphic and the contrast of the white against the navy, but the bow sealed the deal. To complete this casual Friday look, I went with white accessories like the loafers and the earrings and even kept my hair straight (I rarely wear my hair straight, but I felt like it was appropriate for a casual, lazy day).

Happy start-of-the-weekend, everyone! Do you have plans this weekend?

Have a wonderful day!

Hello, everyone! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a fashion outfit, right? I’m entering the final month of summer and going through a mini mental shock because I’m going to be moving up to college soon. I will really, really try to post regularly, but I cannot make any promises since I do want to enjoy my last moments before my transition into college. Jeez, this seems so surreal. I’m going to college. I’m going to college! I am going to college. Crazy.

Rambling aside, this is my first fashion oriented post in awhile! It’s no shock that I love all things girly, and this dress is no exception. I love the subtle cowl neckline of the dress, giving the plain silhouette a more modern edge while still maintaining a classy look. I’m obsessed. I went pretty simple with my accessories as I always do, but I think it gives more focus on the dress and how gorgeous it is. (I am really obsessed with the dress).

Hello, Moraine!

This actually isn’t the next day of our Canadian Adventure, but I can’t seem to find the pictures. :c It’s probably since I had to switch cameras because I forgot the charger for the T3i (Sorry for the quality of the pictures!). I’ll look for them again, but for now, I’ll just talk about our hike around Moraine Lake and Johnston Canyon. Have I mentioned how wonderful the weather was? Although it rained randomly on occasion, it was so nice, chilly, and perfect. I love chilly summers. Anyway, my family and I have never been to Moraine Lake, but I had been recommended to go and it did not disappoint. The views are gorgeous, and the hike around the lake is nice and easy (especially compared to the steep hike up Sulphur). After walking around Moraine, we headed over to Johnston Canyon, my favorite place to visit. It’s quite tourist-y and almost always crowded, but for some reason, I really enjoy the sound of the falls and the hike up and down. Perfect scenery and perfect weather.

I’m pretty sure I’m overusing the word perfect, but I’m writing this out after my vacation and I’m really missing it now.

On My Way Up

It was finally the day to relive all my fondest memories in Canada: my family was going to conquer Sulphur Mountain (one of the more tedious hiking feats in Banff National Park). I had finished this trail back in the summer of eighth grade year when I was more fit, and on my way up this time, I kept asking myself, “My goodness, how did I do this so easily before?” It’s definitely strenuous for those who haven’t hiked in five years (aka us) with the steep incline, but the views are simply breathtaking. I had to stop to have a little Instagram session before finally making it to the gondola terminal, where my whole family just about collapsed and took well-deserved naps.

Despite how tired we were afterwards, I loved this day because I shared this (super tiring) experience with my family and that we didn’t give up. Yay! c:

Road Trip

IMG_5592 IMG_5573 IMG_5571

As part of my graduation present, my family and I went on a road trip to Calgary, Alberta, Canada. With many hours invested on the road, I couldn’t update my blog as much, so I am sorry for that! However, the posts should be regular now until I head off to college (which is so soon!). I love road trips. I love the conversations and the junk food (even the inevitable stops to Costco), and this trip was no exception. We were passing by Seattle when we ate at a Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant which had the most amazing chicken wings ever (I am not a huge wings person, but these were amazingly crispy, buttery, and perfect) and a field of windmills. Though it might not have been a perfect place to take some pictures, it was so nice to stretch out our legs and enjoy the Northern USA weather (it was getting too hot in Texas).

I will be updating you all on my amazing trip to Canada throughout this week, so please stay tuned!

Ahoy, Captain!

It is kind of terrible how much I love stripes and neutrals. They’re just so easy and chic, and they both consume my closet. It’s a problem. No matter, I have been itching to wear this skirt for ages, but I was always so reluctant because of how form-fitting and short it is. However, I think the modest boat neckline of the Banana Republic top balances the skirt out, so I don’t feel too scandalous. If you know me, I rarely ever wear anything very form-fitting (unless it’s my skinny jeans), but I like how classy this outfit looks. I think it’s the stripes. It’s all about the stripes.

Summer Daze

Good morning, lovelies!

There is never a better time to wear girly dresses than the summer. It’s just so effortless and easy, and it just looks so cute. This Loft dress is just the perfect spring/summer dress with its blush color and eyelet details, and the floppy hat and floral earrings complete the quintessential sweet look.

Recently, I’ve just been relaxing, enjoying the summer by reading, watching movies and TV shows, and exercising. I’ve been on this health-kick, and I’ve been working out daily and eating healthily. It’s been a struggle to keep up with a routine of exercise, but now with my free time, I’ve been hitting the gym hard and adding a healthy diet into my lifestyle. It’s funny how my friend, Leah, and I have simultaneously been starting to be healthier. We’re both messaging each other when we go to the gym, and people think that we’re working out together when we’re not. (Shout out to my home gurl, Leah! Check out her awesome artwork here.)

Stripes on Stripes

Happy Fourth of July! Happy US Independence Day!

I love the colors red, white, and blue together, and what a better way to show off my patriotic pride than with a classic “Amanda” outfit (stripes everywhere). It’s so funny. When I go shopping with my friends, they always point out all the striped clothing and say, “Hey, look, it was made for you!” Yeah, stripes are my weakness and my addiction. Sue me. I love the juxtaposition of vertical stripes from my shorts and horizontal stripes from my top; it’s just so aesthetically pleasing. Also, the pink little anchors embroidered on my shorts are just such cute details that make life all the more enjoyable.

My family doesn’t do much on Fourth of July actually, but we do watch the fireworks from the comforts of our couch. Rarely do we actually practice in lighting large scale fireworks, but we do enjoy the occasional sparkler or two. Who knows. Anyways, no matter how you are celebrating today, please have fun, but most importantly, be safe!
