Ringing in the New Year

Happy New Years Eve, lovelies!

So I was out last night with some of my best friends from high school, and my friend, Marissa, asked me, “What are your new years resolutions?” The question stumped me. I was fully aware of the fact that the new year was approaching us (I had been trying to plan new years outfits to post earlier), but after hearing this simple question, I finally realized. Wow. 2013 is almost over.

This was the year of beginnings. I started a new hobby: this blog. I started a brand new chapter in my life. I started my first semester of college. I made new friends. I met new people. I endured the torture that is finals week. I survived my first semester of college.

This year was the year of endings. I said goodbye to those who didn’t need to be in my life. I graduated high school, leaving the comfortable, wonderful relationships I had formed throughout my four years there. I moved, for the first time in my life, to a new city.

Although there were definite beginnings and endings throughout 2013, some things in my life have continued to have nebulous endings. This was the year of continuations. Although miles and miles away from each other, I continued to have close friendships with my best friends from high school, and some of my friendships even strengthened with the distance. My appreciation for the relationships I have with my friends, my family, and even you grew so much this past year. You have been with me all along, throughout all these new beginnings and forlorn endings. I thank you because you made 2013 such a memorable one.

So, Amanda, after rambling for so long, what are your new years resolutions? Well, I think it’s still a work in progress.

Shine On

Hello, lovelies!

We are inching towards a brand new year, and I hope you all have been enjoying my daily posts as a countdown. Sparkle is a given for New Years Eve parties, so might as well wear all the sequins you have, right? I have seen sequins and glitter in every color (and every garment) especially in the grocery store today, and although everyone needs sparkle in their lives, moderation is key to not look like a huge glitter ball. I paired this Forever 21 crop top with all black to give focus to how gorgeous the teal sequins are. Simplicity is sometimes the best route.

Fair Isle in the Snow

IMG_1018

Hello, everyone!

These pictures were taken at Montana State University, and I have to say how pretty the campus is with all the snow and the duck pond. The nerd inside of me pretended that I was in Hogsmeade, but I digress…

Target has been on point with their  apparel lately. This sweater is a prime example of it; look at the details on the sleeves and the gorgeous purple. Target, well done.

Good morning, lovely!

There just aren’t enough occasions to dress up with the number of dresses I own, and obviously, I don’t have enough polka dots in my life. I managed to persuade my dad to take some pictures as I pranced around the hotel lobby on Christmas. It’s always fun to have a photo shoot in crowded areas (strange looks, hello!), but it’s even funner to have some pictures in this rustic and cabin-esque lobby. Not pictured was a bison head mantled on top of the fireplace that I named Jimmy.

Maroon Madness

IMG_0509 IMG_0576

Good morning, everyone!

It’s not a secret that I love the color maroon (partly because it’s the color of my college and partly because it’s just a gorgeous color). I have lived in this Abercrombie & Fitch sweater because it’s so cozy and warm, and surprise, surprise, it’s maroon.

Snow Showers

Good morning, lovelies!

It has been absolutely gorgeous spending my Christmas in Montana. When I told my friends that I was coming here for the week, they and I struggled to figure out what there was here (we did all manage to say “Hannah Montana” though haha), but this vacation has been so relaxing. Lazy mornings, walks in the snow, unlimited coffee and hot chocolate in the hotel lobby…. perfection.

‘Tis The Season

IMG_0354

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Last night, my family and I had this long conversation, reminiscing on our previous Christmases and laughing about how things have changed. It was in these moments of nostalgia and joy that I truly realized the magic of Christmas. It’s the people you share it with. Not one moment in our conversation did we talk about what presents we had received or had given, what lights were adorned all around our house… We just remembered what memories we shared together. Though this may be a very cliche and trite thought, it’s just something to keep in mind this holiday season.

In honor of the holiday season, I will be posting outfits everyday until 2014. While I might not have been consistent with posting throughout the year, this will be my last project for 2013, and I intend to stick to it. Stay tuned for posts featuring snow filled days and my lovely friends and family!

Subdued Sparkle

IMG_0459

Good morning, everyone!

I hope everyone is having a lovely break. Christmas is just upon us, and just the anticipation for it warms my heart with all the Christmas carols and twinkling lights everywhere.

Sparkles for the holidays doesn’t seem like anything groundbreaking, but even a subtle sparkle can be gorgeous this holiday season. My sweater has gold thread woven through it, so it’s a perfect way to sparkle and be festive.

Good morning, lovelies!

I’m waking up and posting this after a week of insane studying and a plethora of finals, but I’m back home now, basking in the warmth of Christmas lights and enjoying the blissful company of my family. I’m actually planning on meeting a friend who has finally come back from college in the East Coast (Hi, my dumpling!) and visiting my alma mater (which is a strange and foreign phrase to use to describe my high school).
