While I’m all for changing up my style and playing with different trends, I love that I can fall back on my simplistic style. I tend to gravitate towards more classic pieces, reflecting on my mother’s personal style — in fact, the jeans I’m featuring are her’s from years ago (hehe, thanks, Mom!). Skinny jeans have been trendy for years now, but there’s something so effortlessly chic about the look of flared bottom jeans. I definitely recommend investing in a pair of these for fall and winter (you just might pass them along to your daughter in the future).

Fall pieces are now starting to hit the racks, and although summer is still in full swing, it’s always a great idea to look for pieces that are appropriate for these hot summer months but could also transition well into the fall. I picked out a few of my favorites that can be easily dressed for summer or fall, and since back-to-school season is on the horizon (it’s never too early to think ahead!), I picked pieces that would be comfortable for class or walking around campus.
Today was my last day of research for this summer, and I can’t believe it’s already over. After long hours of reading papers, trying to figure out what to do, and rerunning experiments, it’s all over. I’ll be working again this fall on this project, but I’m feeling extra sentimental today after I cleaned up the lab and said good bye to my roommate and peers. I am so blessed that I was able to work this summer on a project that I truly care for and love with such great people in the lab and such supportive mentors. I remember vividly my first day of training, wondering how in the world I was going to remember all these protocols and steps, and here I am now, feeling like I could do it all blindfolded (LOL, such an exaggeration, but you get the idea). #soblessed
With today as my last day, today also marks the officially start to my summer vacation. I have three weeks to squeeze in all the quintessential summer plans before I am back in university. Be prepared for some fun posts!
Good morning, world!
My very-neutral wardrobe just got a whole lot brighter with the addition of this J.Crew skirt. Yellow is actually one of my favorite colors to wear, and paired with my new favorite blouse from LOFT (look how adorable the polka dot print and peter pan collar are), this yellow skirt makes this outfit even sweeter. This outfit is perfect for a day with friends and family, and for me, it was a great outfit to explore the city in since the shoes are so comfy.

First thing’s first: excuse the collar that the wind demanded be popped. Secondly, I am wearing color. Excuse me, I am wearing a color not in the spectrum of red, white, or blue. I have an inclination for that color combination, so introducing a different color is a little out of the ordinary for me. I really love deep jewel tones, and this top from Loft is perfectly breezy (as seen by the wind-shaken collar) and great paired with these floral shorts. I’ve been loving going home and being able to walk around the neighborhood in outfits like these.
